Designer Spotlight: Lynne Scalo

Lynne Scalo

As a young girl growing up in Massachusetts, Lynne Scalo always loved the process of creating art. Inspired by everything from childhood summers on Cape Cod to residences in Miami, New York and Los Angeles, Lynne has continued to gather inspiration translated her love of design into a successful, passionate career as an interior designer.

Her eponymous firm, based in Westport, Connecticut, works with clients to create livable spaces that reflect both dramatic tension and harmony. Lynne compares her design process to that of creating a sculpture – always striving to make sure the final result is beautiful from every angle. Her work can be seen in homes throughout New England, New York, and Europe.

One of the ways Lynne accomplishes this goal is by using Merida rugs in her projects. “I choose Merida for the high quality of the products,” Lynne says. “I love the organic aesthetic, the textures, and the timeless, laid-back sophistication.”

In September of last year, one of Lynne’s design projects featuring Merida appeared in Interiors magazine (see photos below). The rug in the project, our Belgian-woven Parquet sisal design, works with the other elements in the room to create an elegant and comfortable backdrop for the residents’ daily lives. Lynne’s work has also been featured in magazines such as Fairfield County Home, Connecticut Cottages and Gardens, The Modern Estate, and Westport Magazine.

Lynne’s own home is furnished with Merida rugs that highlight the juxtaposition of understated natural materials with more dramatic metallic and acrylic furniture and accent pieces. We’re thrilled that Lynne is such a big fan of Merida and we highly recommend her work!

  2. Gorgeous and fresh – I love the coffee table! Also the natural light from the window shows the texture of the rug beautifully.

  3. Lynne is incredibly talented and her design aesthetic is so timeless as well as glamorous. She has a home furnishings store attached to the design studio. Many of the furniture pieces and accessories she selects for her clients are sold in the store. She sources unique and exotic finds from all over the world!
