Lonny Loves Natural Area Rugs

We’re really excited to share some great media coverage that we recently received in the April/May issue of Lonny Magazine. Lonny is a new online publication dedicated to “accessible design.” Since this is the magazine’s first sustainability-focused issue, we’re thrilled to be included in two sections!

The story of our new e-commerce web site, Merida Home, is told in a fantastic 2-page spread that includes photos of our rugs (including the new Thrive Collection) and production processes. We love that the Lonny editors we worked with were able to include some beautiful photos from our overseas suppliers, too!

Lonny’s editor-in-chief, Michelle Adams, also made an appearance in the issue to report on some sustainable updates that she recently made to her New York apartment. As part of the re-design, Michelle included a beautiful Abaca rug in the living room to avoid the chemical emissions from synthetic carpets. In the article accompanying the photos of her apartment, Michelle noted that her Abaca rug could actually be chopped up and used as compost if she ever decided to get rid of it!

Check the magazine out online at http://www.lonnymag.com. The article on Merida Home is on page 40-41, and the Abaca rug is pictured on page 72, 76-77 and 92. A couple of screenshots from the issue are below!

Shipping Natural Rugs

Every week, our custom workroom in Boston ships out hundreds of high quality natural rugs and straight cuts. Depending on its size and shape, your area rug or material will be shipped and received in a specific way. Following are some helpful things to remember about shipping and receiving when placing your order with us.

Shipping

There are two ways to ship rugs:

  • UPS will accept rugs up to 8’6″ long, or 150 lbs. We will always roll your rug on the shortest side to try to meet the length requirement. UPS offers expedited services such as next day  and 3-day delivery, but depending on your location, ground service may also deliver your rug in a timely manner. Ask our Customer Solutions team to check delivery times for you when placing your order. UPS does not offer “call before delivery” service.
  • Xpress Global freight trucks ship all orders greater than 8′x6″ or 150 lbs. Shipping to a commercial location or a receiver can help you save money, but residential “call before delivery” service is available for an extra charge. When shipping directly to a residence, please provide a contact name and phone number for the delivery.

Receiving

When your workroom, receiving department, or customer receives a rug, it must be inspected right away. If any damage to the packaging is evident, it should be noted on the bill of lading from the carrier when you sign for the package. Documenting any damages will allow you to make a claim later, if necessary. Carriers such as UPS and Xpress Global will not honor claims that are signed for without proper notation of the damage.

If you are unsure about the condition of the material in the package, always inspect it while the delivery driver is still present. In the case of a severely damaged shipment, you may refuse the delivery.

We make every effort to ship all orders carefully and accurately, but sometimes things don’t always go as planned. We stand behind our products and our service, and will be happy to work with you to promptly correct any errors. Your help in following these basic procedures can help us clear up any issues so you can enjoy your new beautiful new Merida rug!

Madagascar sisal rug freshens up a bedroom in Real Simple

In April’s 10th anniversary issue of Real Simple, a Merida sisal rug helped transform a sterile master bedroom into a colorful, welcoming place for a young family. Three lucky Real Simple readers got the chance to have their half-finished rooms redesigned by a savvy interior designer. One winner’s master bedroom was revamped by interior designer Kimberly Ayers, known for her bright and bold color choices. Kimberly selected a “cushy sisal” rug, Madagascar in Tupelo, to layer with a green accent rug, adding a splash of contrast and texture to the room. I love how the warm, neutral tones of the sisal rug help keep the room so balanced and fresh! What do you think?
