Wednesdays in the workshop - the five-ply yarn that makes Strand

Our Strand rug, in the Atelier Collection, starts with a complex plied yarn which we create in our workshop. It's a five-step process and the result is spectacular.

First we twist two strands of linen yarn together. Then, that blend is twisted with thin felted wool ( the blue strand above).  Next, this three-ply blend is twisted with Alpaca Mohair and then with Sisal.

This plying process creates a yarn that is uniquely Merida.

And a rug that is subtle, textured,  and beautiful. You can see where Strand gets its name.
